Commercial Motorcycle Riders Clash In Abeokuta, 25 Arrested

Two factions of the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Riders Association Of Nigeria, ACOMORAN, have clashed at the premises of the federal high court in Abeokuta.

In the commotion that ensued, 25 members of the association were arrested by the Ogun state police command for disrupting public peace and order.
According to reports, the clash which could have resulted in a serious breakdown of law and order was averted by the combined men of the Nigeria Police, Department Of State Security, DSS, and men of the Nigerian Army.

WATCH!!! Police Uncovers Another Baby Factory In Imo

The Imo state police command has arrested a 35 year old native of Umuoda Isingwu, Umuahia south in Abia state, Mrs. Rose Nwadinaobi, for allegedly running an illegal baby factory where pregnant teenagers are kept till day of delivery and their babies sold to interested buyers.
While parading the suspect and her accomplices at the police headquarters in Owerri, the state capital, the police commissioner, Mohammed Katsina, said the group was arrested during an ambush when a suspected buyer, Mrs Amaka Abuchukwu was on transit from Port Harcourt to Owerri, where she bought a day old baby.
Preliminary investigations by the Police revealed that the clinic she described as a herbal clinic was only an illegal baby factory and as at the time of arrest, 6 pregnant teenagers waiting to deliver were rescued.
A sum of N1.03 million, which was deposited by buyers, was also recovered from the woman.
Mrs Nwadinobi, the operator of the factory, initially claimed to be a certified herbal nurse who had over time treated women who are unable to conceive but while on interrogation confessed that her herbal treatment did not produce desired results in Mrs Abuchukwu and due to her desperation, a pregnant teenager was brought in to deliver and hand over a baby boy in exchange for N250,000.
The pregnant teenagers who were rescued from the herbal home disclosed that they all conceived outside the home but individually approached the operator after they were directed by friends and were promised the sum of N50,000 if they willingly surrender their babies after delivery.
Investigations also revealed that the operator of the factory, who resides in Port Harcourt, has a chain of clients all over the country. The Police Commissioner disclosed that further investigations will be carried out on the matter.

Man Kidnaps His 9-Year-Old Son To Raise Money For His Girlfriend

photo
A 48-year-old man, yesterday, at the Lagos State command of the Department of State Services, DSS, gave a starling revelation of how he masterminded the kidnap of his nine-year-old son in Badagry area of Lagos

The suspect, Adeyinka Adebayo, who admitted to have connived with his 28-year-old girlfriend, Kehinde Alonge, said he committed the act to generate money from his church members.
He added that the supposed ransom was to meet up with his girlfriend’s demand.
Parading the suspect alongside his girlfriend before journalists, the Director, Lagos State Command, DSS, Mr. Victor Achu, explained that Adebayo had on October 3 reported at the command that his son had been kidnapped.
Achu said: “The command swung into action. Preliminary investigations confirmed the kidnap of the boy by one Kehinde Alonge, who demanded a ransom of N350,000 for his release and directed that the money be paid into a UBA account.
“The account was later discovered to be owned by one Taiwo Faloye. After series of tactical planning, the owner of the account and Kehinde were arrested at Ilesha, Osun State, while trying to withdraw the money.”
Drama
A mild drama, however, unfolded following an argument between Adebayo and his girlfriend over who brought up the kidnap plan.
While Adebayo claimed that Kehinde hatched the plan to get the N200,000 she needed to open a hairdressing saloon, the later interrupted, stating that “he is lying. I was in Ilesha when he called me to come to Lagos that some people owed him money.
“He said the only way to collect the money from them was for me to come and take his son away, while he pretends that he had been kidnapped.
“I came to Lagos on October 4. I intended going to the school to pick the boy, but Adebayo advised I picked him from the house.
“Since the children knew me, I told the boy to follow me to get something outside and entered the next available vehicle to Ilesha, Osun State. His father even gave me N3,000 for transport.
“When we got to Ilesha, he sent another N3,750 worth of recharge cards for his feeding. He even called his son on phone daily. He was the one that asked me to demand N350,000.
“However, at the end of the bargain, he said I should accept N200,000. Since I had no bank account, I asked one of my relatives to give me his account details. But we were arrested at the point of withdrawal.”
‘She needed money’
However, Adebayo, a father of two, said: “My girlfriend said she needed money to open her own hair dressing saloon. Since I was not financially buoyant, I decided to raise money by masterminding my son’s kidnap.
“I am a vulcanizer and business had not been booming. Anyone I approached for money usually declined to assist me.
“To get money from my church members in particular, I had to mastermind my son’s kidnap.
“He spent nine days at my girlfriend’s house. At the end of the day, I was able to raise N450,000 from my church members and friends, who earlier refused to help me.
“I regret my action because my son may never forgive me if he is told. I feel ashamed also because his mother has been down with stroke, though we are no longer married.
“I beg to be forgiven. It was the handiwork of the devil.”
The suspects, according to Ochu, would be charged to court.

Houseboy Murder: Housewife Sentenced to 10 Years

Houseboy Murder: Housewife Sentenced to 10 YearsAn Ikeja High Court, Lagos, sentenced a 27-year-old woman, Chiamaka Nnajiofor, to 10 years of imprisonment for her culpability in the death of her housekeeper, Oliver Arakwe.
Justice Lateefat Okunnu convicted Nnajiofor for the offence of manslaughter instead of the charge of murder preferred against her. The decision has been announced on October 28, 2013, Monday.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the sentence is to commence from 22 September, 2011, when she was first arraigned.
Nnajiofor and her husband, Elochukwu, 41, were charged to court by the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on charge of murder, and pleaded not guilty.
However, the DPP revealed the couple tortured their 14-year-old Arakwe to death on 17 August, 2010 at 81, Femi Tella Street, Ago Palace Way, Okota, a Lagos suburb.
In her judgment, Justice Okunnu discharged and acquitted Elochukwu because the prosecution led by Mr. Femi Adamson, had failed to connect him with the alleged crime. The evidential burden against the husband of the convicted murderer was very weak.
“There is nothing to show that he was part of the flogging his wife instigated that day, and available evidence indicated that he was not in the apartment when it happened.
“The prosecution also failed to prove the charge of murder against Chiamaka beyond reasonable doubts.
“Oliver was a severely malnourished boy and the pounding of the boy with a belt would have had a lesser effect on a normal 14-year-old.
“It is on this basis that I find Chiamaka, the first defendant, not guilty of murder. I find her guilty of manslaughter.
“The second defendant, Elochukwu, is discharged and acquitted.”

DRAMA In Abuja As Another Plane Crash Was Averted

DRAMA In Abuja As Another Plane Crash Was AvertedAnother air disaster was averted at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport, Abuja on Monday as a Med-View Airlines aircraft from Lagos suddenly took to the air again at the point of landing in Abuja.
The pilot told the passengers that he took to the air again to avoid a collision with another aircraft on the tarmac.
The airline Flight VL2104 took off from the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos at noon and was scheduled to land in Abuja at about 1.05pm.
The pilot had already announced final descent into Abuja and asked all passengers and cabin crew to fasten their seat belts but the pilot suddenly took off to the air again with barely 30 seconds to touch ground.
The plane had 150 passengers on board.
After about three minutes of gaining altitude, the pilot announced that he decided to take off again to avoid colliding with an aircraft that was on ground.
He said that after he had been granted clearance to land, it was later discovered that the other aircraft was not fast enough, hence his decision to take off.
The aircraft hovered for another 20 minutes in the air before finally landing at about 1.30pm.
While the drama lasted, the passengers were panic-stricken, especially when the plane entered into turbulent weather on air.
One of the passengers, a nursing mother, who was breastfeeding her son at the time the pilot took off again reportedly withdrew the breast from the boy’s mouth and started praying profusely while the baby’s cry rented the air.
When the plane finally landed, the passengers struggled to disembark.
“Are you still sitting down? Let me rush down in case it will suddenly take off again,” a middle-aged man was heard teasing one of his co-passengers.

ASUU STRIKE: FG Talks With Vice Chancellors Fruitful

photoGovernment and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will meet today in a last ditch efforts to resolve the lingering crisis in the University System.

As a prelude to the meeting scheduled for 10.00a.m today, the Federal Government was locked in a meeting with the Vice Chancellors of the federal universities for about two hours on Monday. Supervising Minister of Education, Mr Nyesom Wike, who chaired the meeting held at the auditorium of the National Universities Commission (NUC), had said the meeting was a normal interaction with the vice chancellors and before the commencement of the meeting, excused journalists, personal assistants, his aides and all others, except the vice chancellors, ostensibly to prevent leakage of their deliberations.
Wike, after the closed door meeting declined comment to newsmen, but told journalists that the government would be meeting with the leadership of ASUU today.
However, it was gathered that the meeting was to see how the universities that have been shut for about four months now could be reopened to students as well as fine-tune discussion on the position of the government against the meeting with ASUU today.
It was gathered, on Monday, that the meeting today would afford the ASUU to report to the government about the position of the union on the offers by the Federal Government so far.
The fresh accord struck by the Vice-President Namadi Sambo with the union, government had agreed to increase the N30 billion already released for the payment of academic earned allowance to N40 billion.
Accordingly, vice chancellors were urged to expedite the disbursement within the shortest possible time using guiding templates that have been sent by the Committee of Vice Chancellors to them.
On the implementation of the Needs Assessment to Nigerian Universities report, it was stated that  the government was cognisant and mindful of the ability of universities to effectively and efficiently utilise the N100 billion fund immediately, hence that figure.
Also, on project prioritisation, universities would now be allowed to determine their priorities and not be “rail-roaded” into implementing a pre-determined set of projects with respect to the NEEDS assessment. Decisions are not to be centralised.
Although, the President of ASUU, Dr Nasir Isa Fagge, could not confirm the willingness of ASUU to attend today’s meeting, it was gathered that zonal meetings of ASUU in their various universities were held last week to collate opinion of the members of the government offers.

In Slovakia, the Aeromobil flying car makes good

With the video telephone and jetpack now conquered, humankind seems bound and determined to make good on another age-old promise: the flying car

On the heels of the Transition, a prototype air-car created by US-based Terrafugia, comes the Aeromobil, a roadworthy flying car from Slovakia. During testing this week, Version 2.5 of this shapely two-seater proved that it can indeed acquit itself on both road and runway.
The latest prototype in a series that dates to 1990, the Aeromobil 2.5 features carbon fibre body work over a steel chassis. A Rotax 912 light-aircraft power plant – a horizonally opposed 1,211cc four-cylinder engine producing about 100 horsepower – supplies the propulsion on land through the front wheels, and in the air via a three-blade pusher prop. Cruising range (on premium-grade pump gasoline, notes Aeromobil) is 310 miles on land and 430 miles in the air.
The car’s insect-like wings, which sweep back against the body in driving mode, extend to a 27ft span for flight mode. The entire machine tips the scales at a scant 992lbs.
Hardly content with the success of version 2.5, Aeromobil co-founder and head designer Å tefan Klein is hard at work on the more comely and refined Aeromobil 3.0 – which, if Klein has his way, will enter series production in the near future. Interested driver-pilots may want to brush up on their radio patter now.
In the meantime, have a look at Aeromobil’s video of Version 2.5 doing its thing.

Michel Platini: World Cup should be expanded says Uefa boss

Uefa president Michel Platini (left) and Fifa president Sepp BlatterUefa president Michel Platini wants the World Cup expanded from 32 to 40 teams.
The 58-year-old has proposed the move after Fifa president Sepp Blatter suggested more countries from Africa and Asia should qualify at the expense of those from Europe.
"Instead of taking away some European [nations], we have to go to 40 teams in the World Cup," Platini told The Times.

"We can add two African, two Asiatic, two American and one from Europe. I support this idea totally."
The first World Cup in 1930 had 13 nations competing, growing to 16 four years later and 24 in 1982, with the increase to the current 32 teams taking place in 1998.
Europe has 13 slots in the current set-up, while Africa has five and Asia four plus a play-off place.
Platini's idea for 40 teams would see eight groups of five at the World Cup as opposed to the present structure of eight groups of four.
The move could come in for the 2018 tournament in Russia and, according to the former French international, would mean the competition being extended by three days.
"Football is changing and now we have 209 associations," said Platini, who is expected to challenge Blatter for the Fifa presidency in 2015.
"There are more countries so why reduce? Forty is not so bad.
"You have three days more of competition and you make more people happy."

2014 World Cup qualification

  • Africa - five automatic spots
  • Asia - four automatic spots and one via a play-off against team from South America
  • Europe - 13 automatic spots
  • North, Central America and Caribbean - three automatic spots and one via a play-off against Oceania winner
  • South America - Four automatic spots and one via a play-off against team from Asia (Brazil qualify as hosts)

Why Nigerian Pilgrims Refuse to Say "Amen" to Pastor Oritsejafor's Prayers

Has Pastor Oritsejafor turned to a political pastor? A mild drama occurred at the River Jordan in Israel when the Nigerian delegation headed by President Goodluck Jonathan went on October 26, 2013, to offer prayers, led by the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Ayo Oritsejafor.
After praying for President Jonathan and several dignitaries at the venue, Mr. Oritsejafor then specifically prayed for Mrs. Oduah, but to his surprise several people in the gathering refused to say “Amen” to his prayer, stunning the leader of CAN and President Jonathan. Several people then exchanged glances and moved on.
If President Jonathan thought the controversy about the BMW car scam would quickly away, he is mistaken, as calls for the prosecution of the Minister grew louder over the weekend as it emerged that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the agency arm-twisted to purchase the cars, cannot physically locate them.
It would be noted that on October 27, 2013, Sunday, the Abuja-based online news platform, Premium Times, reported that the office of the National Security Adviser has said that neither the Minister nor the NCAA applied for, or received the mandatory “End User Certificate” for the cars.
Similarly, several sources at the Federal Road Safety Corps have told SaharaReporters that the agency never presented the cars for licensing.

EL_CLASSICO UPDATES!!! MADRID Vs BARCELONA

Neymar Junior Puts Barcelona in Front with an 18th minute goal

THE BIG CLASH!!! PRIMERA LIGA: Clasico blooding for Bale, Neymar

THRILLER: Two of the world's biggest stars set for epic clash at Nou Camp

MADRID: NEYMAR and Gareth Bale will get their first taste of a clash between Barcelona and Real Madrid since joining the Spanish giants in today's first El Clasico of the season.
The Catalans currently hold a three point lead over Madrid at the top of the table, but it is Carlo Ancelotti's men who have enjoyed a significantly better week in the run up to the match.
Barca dropped their first points of the season with a 0-0 away at Osasuna last weekend and were then held 1-1 by AC Milan at the San Siro on Tuesday.
Madrid took advantage of that rare slip-up by their rivals with a 2-0 win over Malaga and just about sealed their place in the Champions League last-16 on Wednesday by beating Juventus 2-1.
The Malaga match in particular saw a marked improvement in Real's performance to those earlier in the campaign and Madrid haven't been beaten in their last five encounters against Barcelona.
However, Real defender Sergio Ramos doesn't believe last season's meetings between the two will be a big factor come kick-off at the Nou Camp.
"On Saturday we have an important game and it would be a notable step to win in the Nou Camp, but we know meetings there are always difficult and anything can happen."
Ancelotti has some selection dilemmas for his own first experience of a Clasico, particularly in the case of Bale.
The Welshman was introduced as a substitute with 25 minutes to go against Juventus as he continues his comeback from injury, but failed to make any significant impact on the tie.
Ancelotti blamed his mediocre showing on the overall failure of the team to maintain the intensity they showed in the opening period and insisted that Bale is now fit enough to start.
However, it seems more likely that Bale will again be used as an impact substitute with Ancelotti also keen to keep faith with the under fire Karim Benzema.
There is no doubt that Neymar will join world player of the year Lionel Messi in attack for the hosts and the Brazilian admitted that it is for this kind of game that he swapped Brazil for Barcelona in June.
"A Clasico is the most important game for any player," he told Barca TV. "It is the game that every player wants to participate in and show their best football. This will be my first one and I want to make a great debut, preferably with a victory."
Gerardo Martino must decide whether to recall Pedro Rodriguez and Cesc Fabregas after they were both dropped to the bench at Milan.
However, the Argentine may be forced into a change at the back as Gerard Pique is struggling with a hamstring injury meaning Carles Puyol may continue his comeback alongside Javier Mascherano.
Should Barca's winless streak against Real continue, then Atletico Madrid will have the chance to move top of the table with a win over Real Betis tomorrow.
Diego Simeone's men continued their 100 per cent record in the Champions League with a 3-0 midweek demolition of Austria Vienna and the Argentine even had the luxury of resting a few of his key stars.
The likes of David Villa, Diego Godin and Mario Suarez should return to join Diego Costa, who took his tally to 12 goals in 12 games this season with a double in the Austrian capital.

THE BIG CLASH!!! Neymar and Bale set for Clasico debut today

Real Madrid’s Croatian midfielder Luka Modric, Welsh midfielder Gareth Bale and Portuguese defender Fabio Coentrao warm up during a training session at Valdebebas Sports Complex, in Madrid, Spain, yesterday. Real Madrid will face Barcelona today.
MADRID: Neymar and Gareth Bale will get their first taste of a clash between Barcelona and Real Madrid since joining the Spanish giants in today’s first El Clasico of the season.

“When evaluating a Clasico you don’t have to look at the previous results, nor even the last one. These games are always of the highest level and intensity.
“There are things that we have to continue improving, but it is always nice to arrive at the Clasico after a victory.”
Ancelotti has some selection dilemmas for his own first experience of a Clasico, particularly in the case of Bale.

Barcelona v Real Madrid

Lionel Messi and Alvaro MorataBarcelona v Real Madrid

  • Venue: Nou Camp
  • Date: Saturday, 26 October
  • Kick-off: 17:00 BST
Coverage: Live text commentary on BBC Sport website
Barcelona's Lionel Messi is almost certain to start in El Clasico against Real Madrid after recovering from a thigh injury.
Messi missed the wins against Celtic and Valladolid, but started Tuesday's Champions League draw at AC Milan.
Coach Gerardo Martino must decide whether to play veteran defender Carles Puyol, with Gerard Pique (hamstring) a slight doubt.
Real forward Gareth Bale is fit, while Diego Lopez is likely to start in goal.
Iker Casillas started Wednesday's 2-1 win over Juventus, but he has purely been playing in the Champions League this season, with Lopez the first choice in the league.

Real boss Carlo Ancelotti must decide whether to bring world-record signing Bale into the starting line-up after his substitute appearance against Juve.
"He is ready to play a match now," the Italian said while not confirming whether that meant Bale would start or not.
Barcelona's major selection dilemma is more likely to come at centre-back. Puyol, 35, returned in Saturday's 0-0 draw with Osasuna, their first dropped points of the season, after seven months out with a knee injury.
His place in the team could become a necessity if Pique is ruled out with the injury he picked up against AC Milan, although Barca are hopeful the former Manchester United defender will be fit in time.
Puyol told the club website:   "I'm in great shape. The feelings are good. I'm available to the boss.
"It's been a tough seven months but now I'm back. My approach to the game won't change. I always give my all on the pitch."
However, Barca will be without left-back Jordi Alba and forwards Ibraham Afellay and Jonathan dos Santos, who has just been ruled out for six months with a knee injury.
Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa told his club's website:   "The match against Barcelona comes at a good time for us. We are improving and gaining confidence, so we'll see if we can win.
"We know it will be a very difficult match. I'm sure Barcelona will be at their best because they always play well against us. We can't look at their recent draws are a guide.
"They have a three-point lead, but in recent matches in the Camp Nou we've got good results and put in some great performances."
Barcelona are top of the league table after nine games without defeat. Real Madrid, in third, have lost only one game - to second-placed city rivals Atletico.

THE BIG FIGHT!!! MAN CITY Vs CHELSEA

Manuel Pellegrini and Jose MourinhoBarclays Premier League

  • Venue: Stamford Bridge
  • Date: Sunday, 27 October
Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole could be fit to face Manchester City on Sunday after missing the last two matches with a rib injury.
  • Defender Gary Cahill was preferred to David Luiz for Tuesday's win at Schalke and will hope to retain his place.
Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany remains sidelined with the thigh problem that has kept him out of the last two matches.
Martin Demichelis is not yet ready to make his debut following a knee injury.

    MATCH PREVIEW

I took a call from an old friend in the United States this week. He's a big fan of giant truck racing.
"Chelsea-Man City!" he exclaimed. "I can see it in my dreams. The old Blue Thunder against the new Blue Thunder. All shiny and gleaming. Awesome man!"
While not really appreciating a 2am phone call from a clearly deranged soon-to-be ex-friend, I thought I'd best do some research. Apparently Blue Thunder in the 1980s was the biggest Chevrolet Camaro ever built. But the Blue Thunder Ford of the last few years has all the potential to be the world's best.

Through sleepy eyes I could just about get his point as I watched video of two mighty machines bumping but bellowing over pitfalls placed in front of them.
Chelsea, the old Blue Thunder, lustrous with its supremely confident Jose at the wheel. City, the new upstarts, with even more power in the tank. It's a monster mash-up.
These two squads are currently valued at £820m. This is a signpost game for the title. Nothing will be decided for months of course. But a third league defeat by November would seriously dent City's credentials. A first ever league home defeat for Mourinho at Chelsea would be a significant setback to their recent progress.
Chelsea are beginning to look really good. They're unbeaten in seven games and scoring for fun.
City also look highly dangerous going forward. Sergio Aguero is in lethal form with four goals in three games and 72 in his last 112 for club and country. But without Vincent Kompany they lack discipline at the back. Mistakes are being made.
At home, the 2012 champions are so powerful. Away they can succumb too easily. Only four wins in 12 Premier League trips is not a title-winning ratio.
So the form book favours Chelsea. Their defence is tighter right now. Their strikers are hitting form. But with all the glittering stars on display it still wouldn't surprise me if it's as drab and tight as it was in last year's 0-0.
Rafa Benitez was booed by his own fans then. There's no danger of the Special One getting the same treatment and, wherever he's sitting, I reckon the driver of the old Blue Thunder will cross the finish line ahead.

    MATCH FACTS

    Head-to-head
  • Manchester City's only win in their last 15 trips to Chelsea was a 4-2 success in February 2010 when Carlos Tevez and Craig Bellamy both scored twice for the visitors (W1, D4, L10).
  • City failed to score in 10 of those 15 matches and last season's corresponding fixture ended goalless, with Rafa Benitez suffering a hostile reception from Chelsea's supporters throughout his first game in charge of the club.
  • Manchester City have won seven of the last 10 meetings in all competitions (W7, D1, L2).
  • In three seasons in Spain, Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid beat Manuel Pellegrini's Malaga five times out of seven in all competitions, losing just once and scoring 24 goals - including 7-0 and 6-2 home wins.
Chelsea
  • Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 13 Premier League home games - winning 11 - since a 1-0 defeat by QPR on 2 January.
  • They have won all four home games this season and Jose Mourinho is unbeaten in his 64 Premier League fixtures at Stamford Bridge (W50, D14).
  • The Blues have not conceded more than one goal in a Premier League match this season.
  • Mourinho's side have won all four matches in which they opened the scoring.
  • Samuel Eto'o scored the first Premier League goal by a Chelsea striker this season in the 4-1 victory over Cardiff last weekend.
  • Midfielder Oscar has already scored four league goals this season, as many as he managed during the entire 2012-13 season.
Manchester City
  • City are the first team to score 20 Premier League goals this season.
  • The 3-1 victory at West Ham last weekend was their biggest Premier League away win since December.
  • It was also only City's fourth win in their last 12 Premier League away games (W4, D3, L5).
  • They have lost twice from winning positions this season, a record only matched by Crystal Palace prior to the weekend fixtures.
  • Sergio Aguero has scored in three league matches in a row; he has never scored in four successive league games for Manchester City.

Arsenal beat managerless Crystal Palace to stay top of the league, despite having Mikel Arteta sent off.

Arsenal's Mikel Arteta is sent-off at Crystal PalaceArteta scored a penalty after Adlene Guedioura's foul on Serge Gnabry before being dismissed on 65 minutes for a professional foul on Marouane Chamakh.
Palace came close to a leveller but Joel Ward's shot hit the crossbar and Wojciech Szczesny brilliantly saved a Mile Jedinak volley.
Olivier Giroud secured Arsenal's win when he headed in late on.

The Gunners, on the back of their first defeat in 12 games after losing to Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, were not at their best but secured a seventh league win in nine outings this season.
Palace were playing their first game since the midweek departure of Ian Holloway as manager and, even though they produced a hard-working performance, they suffered an eighth defeat in nine Premier League games.
Caretaker manager Keith Millen wanted a reaction from his side after Holloway's departure and the Eagles looked much more solid at the back in the first half.
Arsenal striker Giroud sent an early header over but, despite the visitors dominating possession, their attacks were easily dealt with.
The Gunners appealed for a penalty because of a Damien Delaney handball, although it was more a case of ball to hand with a low cross hitting the Palace defender while he was on the ground.
The vocal home support did their best to help their team and nearly had a reason to celebrate only for ex-Arsenal forward Chamakh and Guedioura to have long range strikes saved by Szczesny.
There was a lively end to the first half as Palace midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi headed wide of the Arsenal goal while, at the other end, Santi Cazorla flashed a shot past the post and Aaron Ramsey had an angled effort saved by Palace keeper Julian Speroni.
Arsenal were denied a penalty when Gnabry, who had come on for the injured Mathieu Flamini, appeared to be caught just inside the area by Delaney - but the visitors did get a spot-kick early in the second half.
Guedioura lost his discipline when diving in on Gnabry, and Arteta converted the resulting penalty as Arsenal scored for a 14th top-flight game in succession.
Palace regrouped and were given added hope when Arteta was red-carded for a professional foul on Chamakh. The Spaniard was the last man when he felled the Eagles forward but will have felt the dismissal was harsh considering it was about 40 yards from goal.
The home side almost compounded Arsenal's feeling of injustice when Joel Ward's well-struck shot was tipped against the crossbar by Szczesny, who pulled off an even better save in palming over Jedinak's 20-yard volley.
Palace continued to press for an equaliser but were caught out when Giroud nodded in Ramsey's cross from close range, with Arsenal now unbeaten in 14 competitive away games.

"I Love Sexy Girls. They Scream When I Perform" - Sean Tizzle

As early as late last year, the act known as Sean Tizzle (Morihanfen Oluwaseun Oluwabamidele) was little known. However, he would go down in history as one of the music revelations of 2013.
Within a few months of the release of his single, Sho Lee, he has been transformed from nobody into one of Nigeria’s fastest rising music acts and now he says he is set to take the industry by storm.

In a recent interview he opens up about his successes and his private life.
“I faced a lot of challenges trying to get a record deal. Playing free gigs was a normal thing for me. Sometimes I even paid to perform in shows but I think it comes with the terrain. Even right now, I’m still facing lots of challenges. Though, there was no time I felt like walking away from music, the experience could be frustrating. There were times I was stranded and had to beg people for money on the streets just to make it to the studio for a recording.
“I remember the first time my record label, D Tunes called me up for a recording. I did not have a dime on me because I was stark broke. I had to beg for money on the road but nobody was willing to assist me,”
He talks about the success of his first single Sho Lee
“Sho Lee means it is hard in Yoruba and Ko lee means it’s not hard. The message is for all the sexy girls out there who are pretending and ‘forming’ to be what they are not. A lot of girls are not true to themselves. They think they are what they are not but at the end of the day, when you probe them, you discover that they are shallow. But I still love and respect them; I love sexy girls. They scream when I perform. I remember being at Elegushi Beach at the very beginning to promote Sho Lee. After my performance, there was this lady who was all over me. She just pounced on me and gave me the kiss of my life screaming, ‘I love your music.’! That was when I knew I was finally getting there”

When asked if he has a woman in his life, he says,
“No, not for now. I’m married to my music. I am a one-man Mopol and I’m not in any relationship. My ideal woman must be beautiful, shapely, sexy and intelligent, and above all, she must have the fear of God.”

What do you think of his music? Are you a fan?
