The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is to receive the
International Standard Organisation (ISO) 27001:2005 Certificate issued
by the British Standards Institution Assurance UK Limited.
A statement by the bank on Wednesday said the ISO certification, the
highest accreditation for information protection and security from the
International Organisation for Standardisation, would be given to the
apex bank on November 6.
The CBN would be the first regulatory body in Nigeria to be so certified, it added.
The scope of the certification, according to the CBN, covers the
bank’s headquarters and all the services provided at the bank by all its
departments.
The CBN commenced the process of certification last year July, it
said, adding that the certificate, renewable every three years, would
expire on August 30, 2016.
